MIT Affiliate Medical Plan
The MIT Affiliate Medical Plan provides members with a wide range of health care and services at the MIT Medical centers in Cambridge and Lexington, including:
- Unlimited care by a primary care provider or physician assistant
- Urgent care 24 hours a day, every day of the year
- Inpatient care at MIT Medical for acute illnesses or contagious diseases
- Gynecological visits and related lab tests
- Confidential testing for sexually transmitted diseases
- Pregnancy testing
- Flu shots and most vaccines (copayments apply to some vaccines)
- Most laboratory tests, other diagnostic testing, and X-rays
- Alcohol and substance abuse support
Additional services are also available at no additional cost to covered affiliates. Some services, such as dental care, routine eye exams, and some vaccines and medications, are not covered by the MIT Affiliate Medical Plan. These services may be covered by the MIT Affiliate Extended Insurance Plan or some other insurance.

Enrollment
If you'd like to purchase the MIT Affiliate Medical Plan but not the MIT Affiliate Extended Insurance Plan, you must complete the application process in person by coming into the Health Plans office (E23-308) during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). When you come into the office, you must be able to show proof that you have adequate hospital insurance from another provider that is comparable to the MIT Affiliate Extended Insurance Plan.
