Parents: Ask your MIT health questions now!

August 7, 2009

If you’re like most parents of MIT students, you have lots of questions about student life at MIT, including questions about how your child can access medical or mental health care and how that care is covered. Now the MIT Parents Association is offering you the chance to get some answers—two live, online chats where parents can ask questions of MIT Medical clinicians and representatives of the MIT Health Plans. Join us for one or both:

  • Student insurance plans and health care coverage
Wednesday, August 12 at noon (EDT)
This is your chance to speak with representatives of the MIT Health Plans about the waiver form, what’s covered under the basic student medical plan, how your health insurance might work when your child is away from home, and any other coverage questions you might have.
  • Student medical and mental health care at MIT
Wednesday, August 19 at noon (EDT)
Medical Director William Kettyle, M.D., Mental Health Service Chief Alan Siegel, Ed.D., and Kim Carroll, R.N., MIT Medical’s care manager, will answer your questions about everything from filling prescriptions to dealing with serious illness or injury.

Participants join the chat by visiting the MIT Parents Association website just before noon EDT on the day of each chat. Advance sign up is not necessary—participants select a username at the time they join. You may also use the form on this page to sign up for a reminder email with instructions for joining the chat.

Do you already know what you want to ask? Use this form to submit a question in advance; this will ensure that we’ll either get to your question during the live discussion or send you a personal reply.
